Sharing a tag tutorial here

I made this tag for a blog hop with Faber-Castell and May Arts. Sharing the tutorial here as well.

To make this tag, I used:
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accents: Gesso, Gel Medium, Texture Luxe Gold
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos Mist Maker Set
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Mixed Media Stencils 101: Dots, Hexagons
May Arts ribbon # 516-4-02 4" x 10Y Jute & Wire
May Arts ribbon # 433-14-10 1/4" x 15Y Lace
May Arts ribbon # SK-125-01 Silk
May Arts ribbon # 368-15-01 1.5" x 30Y Polyester
Others: Sizzix Bigz L Die - Tag; die-cutting system; cardstock, tissue, old book page, stamp, embellishments from my stash, thread, sewing machine, stapler, needle, beads

Diecut tag and create a base with layers of cardstock, book paper, tissue, etc. using Gel Medium. Add a decorative edge with stitching.

Whitewash the background with a coat of gesso.

Rub various Gelatos colors on the tag and blend parts of it with your fingers and some with wet paint brush.

Using a palette knife and the dots stencil, apply Gold Texture Luxe paste near the top right part of the tag.

Layer jute and lace trims on the tag and secure with stapler.

Cut about 12" of silk ribbon and color it with Gelatos colors and blend by misting with water.

Once the water dries, tie the ribbon into a bow and attach to tag.

Cut various lengths of silk and polyester ribbons. Fold them in halves lengthwise and straight stitch along the open edge. Pull the thread to scrunch up the ribbon and sew it in the center to make them look like flowers. Color the flowers with various shades of Gelatos.

Embellish around the flower cluster with buttons, pins, beads, etc, securing them in place with Gel Medium. Apply Texture Luxe Gold paste with plalette knife through hexagon stencil near the bottom of the tag to finish.

I can't stop playing with the tag die, these ribbons and of course, my favorite Gelatos and texture mediums from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft!

Smile for the camera

Hi everyone, today I'm here with another Sizzix tutorial.

Making this card today using the following:
Gel Medium, Gesso, watercolor pencils, PITT Artist pen, palette knife: Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft
Acrylic paints: DecoART Media
Others: cardstock, buttons, twine, adhesive, stapler, buttons, thread, needle,

Let me walk you through the steps.

To diecut the pieces, lay a cutting pad on the extended magnetic platform, lay the dies blade-side up on the cutting pad, put cardstock on the dies and cover with the second cutting pad and pass the whole sandwich through the Big Shot machine.
I'm taking a mixed media approach here, so I didn't diecut all the layers and details of the camera. But if you do, you'll have a wonderfully layered detailed camera.

Create the card base by attaching book paper to the diecut card pieces with gel medium. Color the pieces with acrylic paints with a palette knife.

Attach the pieces to the card base in layers.

Color the camera with watercolor pencils and add details with pen.

Attach the camera and sentiment to the card.

Cut some twine and attach it to the card below the sentiment with staples.

Embellish with buttons to finish the card.
With this die set, you can not only make a card, but also make great detailed embellishments for scrapbook pages and more.
Thanks for stopping by :)

A box filled with hearts

Won't it be nice to surprise a loved one with a box full of hearts and positive affirmations this Valentine's Day?

Here's a box with cards that I put together using the following Sizzix dies, tools and accessories:
Others: Gesso & Gel Medium (Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft), Acrylic paints (DecoART Media), Ink (Ranger), cardstock, old book paper

And here are the steps to make this project:

Cut cardstock to 12" x 6". Place the Box & Card die blade side up on an extended cutting pad. Lay cardstock on the die and lay the extended crease pad on top. Pass the sandwich through the Big Shot machine. You'll end up with diecuts that are creased for easier folding and assembly.

Glue the tabs and fold them in to assemble the box. Attach patterned paper or old book paper on the body of the box.

Apply Gesso over the book paper of the box.

Apply acrylic paints to color the box.

Attach book paper and hearts to the cards. Color the cards with acrylic paints.

Stamp sentiments on cardstock and cut them in strips. Attach them to the box and the cards.

Finish the cards and the box with more paints and adding handwritten sentiments.

Put the cards in the box to finish.

Here's a close-up.

Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial. A box like this can fit any occasion from Valentine's to Thanksgiving as well as everyday encouragements... you can fill it with anything you wish!

Take the Challenge with Mou, February 2015 at Design Memory Craft Blog

Hi everyone, Mou here with the second Take the Challenge of 2015.

If you are new to this blog, let me fill you in about Take the Challenge. Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. We will pick TWO winners from among the readers who participated in that month's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.

My February challenge for you is to create any project about your favorite beverage. It could be a brand of soda you love or a coffee mug someone gave you... you choose! I'm a tea drinker. It's a ritual without which my day is incomplete. I also have special tea cups  to set the mood for my indulgence. So, I did an art journal page about it.

The supplies I used:
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accents: Gesso, Gel Medium, Texture Luxe Gold
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Stamper's Big Brush pens: PINK MADDER; MAGENTA
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Essential PITT Artist pens: BLACK
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos Mist Maker Set
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Mixed Media Stencils 101: Dots
Others: Sizzix Bigz Die Tea Time; die-cutting system; cardstock, art journal, old book page, stamp

And here are the steps.
Start by attaching an old book page to the art journal page using Gel Medium.
When dry, apply a coat of Gesso to the page leaving certain words out.
Color the page with Gelatos® colors.
Stamp randomly by inking background stamp with Stamper's Big Brush pen.
Diecut the tea cups and stack them as shown. Attach to page with Gel Medium.
Lay stencil on the right half of the page and with palette knife from the Gelatos Mist Maker Set, apply a thin coat of Texture Luxe Gold paste.
Add shadowing and details to the tea cups with Gelatos®, Gesso, Stamper's Big Brush pens, and PITT Artist pen.
Rub a little Gelatos® color on the top left corner of the page, spray with water using misting bottle from the Gelatos Mist Maker Set and let it drip down.

Here's a close-up of my page.

Don't forget to share your challenge creations with us... just leave a comment to the challenge post with link to your project image(s) by Friday, 2/13 and we will pick TWO winners randomly to win these.
The prizes for this challenge are: One tub of Glass Bead Glitter Gel & one Mini Journal Board.
Don't forget to check back on Monday, 2/16 to see if YOU won!
Good luck to all!
